NHS Professionals signs up to the Care Leaver Covenant
As the country marks Care Leavers Week, NHS Professionals is proud to announce it has signed up to the Care Leaver Covenant.
Celebrating the fourth anniversary of the Care Leaver Covenant, National Care Leavers Week is a brilliant opportunity not only to reflect on the ongoing challenges faced by care-experienced young people as they begin their independent lives, but also to showcase the success stories and the generous support by the private, public and voluntary sectors.
As part of their contribution, NHS Professionals will be offering apprenticeship and internship roles to young people leaving care, which will be advertised through the Care Leaver Covenant platform. We will be mentoring these young people throughout their journey with us, to help them to start, build and sustain a career at NHS Professionals.
Nicola McQueen, Chief Executive at NHS Professionals said, “At NHS Professionals, we want to play our part in creating meaningful opportunities for care leavers, to ensure they are able to get the best possible start to their career.
Signing up to the Care Leaver Covenant is more than words on paper. It means we are joining a national inclusion programme that supports care leavers aged 16-25 to live independently. I am delighted that NHS Professionals is partnering with CLC to support these fantastic individuals. I am personally looking forward to welcoming and mentoring some of them and can’t wait to get started!”
Matthew Gordon, CEO of Spectra and provider of the Care Leaver Covenant said: “We’re excited that NHS Professionals is signing up to the Covenant and building an ambitious and considered offer for our care experienced young people. As an organisation with a deep understanding of recruitment and talent development, and one that’s linked closely to our National Health Service, we see great potential for this partnership to drive positive outcomes for care leavers across England.
We’re delighted to welcome NHS Professionals to the Universal Family during National Care Leavers Week 2022”.
