Pay rates: Days = £13.79, Nights & Saturdays = £17.93, Sundays & Bank Holidays = £22.07

The Role:

Are you an experienced Occupational Therapist who would like to be part of a mental health team, providing better lives for the patients, working for one of the UK’s most respected NHS Mental Health Foundation Trusts?

We have an opportunity for an OT to be based at Prestwich. Working with the highly experienced mental health team, you will be providing an efficient and effective service for patients with organic and functional mental health needs within the health care facility.

Our Forensic Mental Health service provides treatment, rehabilitation and aftercare for people who are mentally unwell and who are in the criminal justice system. Our wards specialise in each part of a service user’s recovery and aims to prepare the person for life in the community.

Responsibilities:

  • To manage a defined caseload using evidence based /client centred principles.
  • To assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and record all interventions.
  • To abide by the Royal College of Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct and the Royal College of Occupational Therapy Professional Standards for OT Practice.
  • To develop skills and knowledge through participation in a Professional Development Planning process to meet the competency framework.
  • To work within an inpatient mental health setting including secure services, providing a service to patients who are deemed to have complex and challenging needs

Essential Criteria:

  • Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Basic knowledge of health legislation and current practice, including
    • Mental Health Act
    • CPA
    • NICE Guidelines
    • Risk Management
  • Good personal organisational skills, including effective planning and organisation of self and client care
  • Knowledge of current best practice in mental health Occupational Therapy
